Refunds

If the school receives a letter or an email signed by the student or parent at least one week in advance due to an official withdrawal or leave of absence, the remaining tuition balance will be refunded in full by check. Verbal notices, phone calls, and text messages are not acceptable.

If the school receives less than one week notice from the student or parent due to an official withdrawal or leave of absence, no refunds will be given.

Rescheduled courses and make-up lessons are not refundable. Unused course credits will be expired automatically one year after the date of issue. Expired lessons can't be reserved or refunded.

If the school decides to stop teaching for any reason, the school reserves the right to send a signed written notice to the student one week in advance and refund the student's remaining tuition fees in full.

Make-up Missed Lessons

When students continue to participate in their regular classes, it creates the best learning environment for them. However, we realize that it is sometimes impossible to attend regular courses; therefore, for the benefit of our students, we provide make-up lessons, but make-up lessons can't be rescheduled.

If a student can't take lessons in his or her regular schedule due to emergency circumstances, he or she can make-up lessons with instructors.

If an instructor can't teach lessons in his or her regular schedule due to emergency circumstances, he or she can make-up lessons with students.

Arrive On Time

All instructors and students are required to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the commencement of their lessons.

Questions and discussions are welcome before the course begins and after the course. If instructors and students need to stay in school before or after class, be sure to provide a safe supportive learning environment for others.

Late Arrivals

If an instructor is late for a lesson, the instructor will need to refund the tuition fee for the missed time, extend the lesson to its original amount of time, or make-up the missed time at other available times of the day or on a different day.

If a student is late for a lesson, no refunds will be given, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time, and the instructor will not provide a make-up lesson.

Early Dismissals

Instructors and students will not be allowed for early dismissal except in emergencies.

If an instructor leaves the classroom before the end of the course for any reason, the instructor will need to refund the tuition fee for the missed time and make-up for the missed time at other available times of the day or on a different day.

If a student leaves the classroom before the end of the course for any reason, the student's tuition will be charged in full,  the remaining time will not be refunded, and the instructor will not provide a make-up lesson.

Attendance and Absences

Instructors and students are expected to be in the classroom every lesson and inform each other for their absence.

If an instructor doesn't inform the student of his or her absence and the student is waiting for the instructor throughout the course, the instructor must give the student a refund and a make-up lesson.

If a student doesn't inform the instructor of his or her absence and the instructor is waiting for the student throughout the course, the student's tuition will be charged in full and the instructor will not provide a make-up lesson.

If no extreme weather school closures in Greater Boston area or students' area, all policies apply as usual.
  • National Holidays: The Beethoven Piano & Violin School is open all year round, seven days a week, with no holidays or vacations, which brings benefits, advantages, and positive influence to everyone. Medium of Instruction

All music performance lessons and classes can be taught in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin upon request.

Personal Instruments

If applicable, all teachers and students are required to bring their personal instruments (except the piano) to their assigned courses, as long as their personal musical instruments do not interfere with the safety or rights of themselves and other people in the classroom.

The school and all teachers and students have the responsibility and obligation not to damage their own and other people's musical instruments.

If the school damages the musical instruments of teachers and students, the school needs to compensate teachers and students.

If teachers and students damage the school’s musical instruments, teachers and students need to compensate the school.

If a teacher damages a student's personal musical instruments, the teacher needs to compensate the student.

If a student damages a teacher’s personal musical instruments, the student needs to compensate the teacher.

Professional Maintenance

Improper cleaning will affect the performance of each instrument and frequent visits to repair shops. Therefore, it is an important issue to clean each instrument without damaging the instrument and to give the instrument the best care and maintenance required for its optimal performance. It is recommended not to use non-professional instrument cleaners on each instrument, because if used improperly, non-professional instrument cleaning products will damage each instrument. For professional cleaning methods, instrument cleaning products, care and maintenance of each different musical instrument, please check the musical instrument protection rules online, or go to some musical instrument stores for more detailed about useful suggestions and specific advice.

Metronomes

When students use a metronome during practice, the metronome helps maintain a steady pulse and helps learn how to calculate different rhythms. The metronome is not only a memory aid, which allows students to pay more attention to music beats, but also enhances students' ability to accurately perform the same music at various musical rhythms.

Lights and Lamps

It is so important to choose good and healthy LED lights and eye protection lamps for your music activities, at least 1100 lumens is needed.

Adjustable Benches

It is recommended that all pianists adjust the seat to a suitable height before performing the piano. An adjustable piano bench is a good choice because it can be easily adjusted to different heights. From the perspective of professional performance, the forearms and elbows of all pianists should be as high as the keyboard and parallel to the keys as much as possible so that the arms rest comfortably on the keys.

Textbooks

If applicable, all teachers and students are required to bring their personal music scores and music textbooks to their designated courses.

Teachers and students who teach and attend the Beethoven Piano and Violin School can purchase music scores and music textbooks from the school, or obtain music scores and music textbooks through other channels with reliable information and sources. Due to the limited number of music scores and music textbooks, the school only sells music scores and music textbooks to employees and registered students.

Companions

Students are permitted to bring family members and friends with them to their lessons for observation.

Behavior

Instructors and students must always respect school property and buildings, including building lobbies, stairs, corridors, and classrooms. Instructors and students need to work together to ensure a safe, warm, dedicated, professional, diverse atmosphere that contributes to academic research and learning.

Health (Medical and Dental)

All students must notify the school of any allergies or medical conditions prior to the start of all courses.

If any instructor or student has any injury or illness at school, a life-threatening, medical or mental emergency, call 911 on the nearest phone or go to the nearest hospital. When calling 911, please notify the emergency operator immediately via the exact emergency location and phone number.
